US-Iran live updates: 3 US service members killed; Iran and Israel trade strikes

Three U.S. service members were killed during operations linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran, American military officials confirmed a day after the United States and Israel carried out strikes and Iran responded. U.S. Central Command said five additional troops were seriously wounded. The names of the fallen have not yet been released.

Hostilities between Israel and Iran continued Sunday following reports that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the joint strikes. Explosions were reported in Tehran throughout the afternoon.

Iran has vowed retaliation and on Saturday struck a U.S. Navy base in Bahrain, though no American personnel were reported killed or injured. Regional tensions remained high, with reported damage in Bahrain and at Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, blasts heard in Doha, and Oman reportedly struck for the first time.
