A school bus carrying 32 children crashed off Highway 401 in! See more

Eight years after one of Tanzania’s darkest days, the pain still lingers. On May 6, 2017, a school bus from Lucky Vincent Primary School in Arusha skidded off a rain-soaked mountain road in Karatu and plunged into a ravine, killing 32 children, two teachers, and the driver.

The students had been on their way to take mock national exams — a day meant for hope and progress. But heavy rain made the highland road dangerously slick, and investigators found the bus lost traction before breaking through a guardrail. Rescue teams rushed in, but almost no one survived.
