Tragedy at Rhode Island High School Hockey Game: Family Speaks Out

The community of Pawtucket is reeling after a deadly shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena during a high school hockey game, leaving families devastated and the town in mourning.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as Robert Dorgan — also known as Roberta Dorgan — opened fire during the event. The attack claimed the lives of 23-year-old Aidan Dorgan and 52-year-old Rhonda Dorgan. Several others were critically injured, including Rhonda’s parents, Linda Dorgan and Gerald Dorgan, as well as family friend Thomas Geruso. All were transported to nearby hospitals.

Tina Goncalves, chief of the Pawtucket Police Department, confirmed that the suspect died at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted injury. Investigators recovered two firearms during the incident.

In a statement, the Dorgan family expressed profound grief, saying, “Our hearts are broken beyond words. We are holding onto each other and praying for the victims and their families during this unimaginable time.”

The shooting has left a lasting impact on the community, as residents, classmates, and local officials come together to support those affected and honor the lives lost. Authorities continue their investigation to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
