In an interview with YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama, 64, described the video as emblematic of a disturbing trend in U.S. politics, saying, “There’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and on television.” He highlighted that most Americans still believe in decency, courtesy, and kindness, despite the erosion of standards in the presidency.

Obama also criticized past actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), calling the federal crackdown in Minneapolis–Saint Paul “deeply concerning” and “dangerous,” noting the use of aggressive tactics against families and the tragic deaths of civilians.
