In 2012, 23-year-old Chris Todd Erick was found dead in bed at his grandmother’s home in Midlothian, Texas. Authorities concluded that he died from complications related to an undiagnosed heart condition, reportedly suffering two heart attacks. But according to his mother, Kim Erick, the events that followed unfolded so quickly that she felt excluded from critical decisions regarding her son’s body and the official handling of the case.
