Michael Douglas Says He May Step Back From Acting After Nearly 60-Year Career

Actor and producer Michael Douglas has said he is considering slowing down his acting career after nearly six decades in Hollywood, signaling a potential shift away from the industry he has long helped define.

The 80-year-old star noted in recent remarks that he does not want to continue working at the same intense pace, joking that he would prefer not to โ€œdrop dead on set.โ€ His comments reflect a broader desire to reduce his workload and prioritize personal time.

Douglas began his career as a producer on One Flew Over the Cuckooโ€™s Nest, before rising to international fame through major roles in films such as Wall Street, Fatal Attraction, and Basic Instinct. In later years, he also appeared in projects including the Ant-Man franchise and the Netflix series The Kominsky Method.

While he has not formally retired, Douglas indicated that future work will be limited and selective, with a focus on projects that are meaningful to him. He is currently attached to the upcoming film Looking Through Water, which also features his son, Cameron Douglas.
