Firemen save 8 Labrador pups from drain: Then they realise they’re not dogs at all

Rescuing animals can be both rewarding and challenging, especially when young wildlife gets mistaken for domestic pets. In 2018, Colorado firefighters responded to a call about eight abandoned “puppies” trapped in a drain pipe, only to discover at the rescue center that they were actually baby foxes. The mistaken identity highlighted how easily people can misjudge wildlife situations. While the firefighters saved the kits from danger, wildlife officials hoped to reunite them with their mother or care for them in rehab if she didn’t return. The story is a powerful reminder to always call professionals before intervening with wild animals, as well-meaning actions can sometimes do more harm than good.
