Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash Reported on Mexico–Querétaro Highway, Authorities Investigate

A serious multi-vehicle collision on the Mexico–Querétaro Highway in the State of Mexico has left multiple people dead and caused major traffic disruptions, according to early reports from local authorities.

The crash occurred at kilometer 059+000 near Huehuetoca, when a trailer reportedly failed to stop in time and collided with several vehicles traveling along the highway. The impact caused the truck to jackknife, blocking all three northbound lanes and bringing traffic to a standstill.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where they worked to assist the injured and clear the wreckage. Authorities confirmed that the highway was partially closed while rescue and recovery operations were underway, leading to significant delays in the area.

Preliminary information suggests that the severity of the collision contributed to a high number of fatalities, though officials have not yet released final figures or identified all of the victims. Investigators are continuing to examine what caused the driver to lose control, including possible mechanical failure or braking issues.

Officials have urged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as cleanup efforts continue and the investigation remains ongoing.
