Missing GoPro May Hold Key Evidence in Fatal Bungee Jumping Death of 21-Year-Old Woman

Authorities in Brazil are searching for a missing GoPro camera that could play a crucial role in the investigation into the death of 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas during a bungee jumping event earlier this month.
The tragedy occurred on June 13 in Limeira, where Freitas fell approximately 130 feet from a bridge known locally as the Skeleton Bridge. Investigators allege that the young woman was pushed from the platform without being properly connected to the safety system intended to protect participants during the jump.
According to police, the GoPro camera Freitas was reportedly wearing at the time of the incident has not been recovered. Authorities believe the device may contain critical footage from the moments leading up to the fatal fall and are investigating whether evidence may have been intentionally removed or concealed.
The case has already resulted in criminal charges against three rope-jump operators, who have been accused of homicide. Investigators say those involved have been unable to clearly explain how the safety procedures failed. Police investigator Andrea Levy stated that the central fact of the case is that the safety ropes were not attached to Freitas when the jump occurred.
Witness Rafael Goulart has also claimed he saw an employee remove the GoPro camera from the victim shortly after the accident. His account has prompted additional scrutiny as authorities examine whether potential evidence was tampered with following the tragedy.
Officials confirmed that the disappearance of the camera is now a significant part of the investigation, with efforts continuing to locate the device and determine exactly what happened in the final moments before the fatal jump.
