24-Year-Old from Cardiff Dies Weeks After Terminal Cancer Diagnosis, Family Shares Heartbreaking Update

A 24-year-old woman from Cardiff, Wales, has died just one month after being told she had approximately six months to live following a terminal cancer diagnosis, her family has confirmed.
Acute myeloid leukemia was diagnosed in Caitlin Leggett in April 2025, an aggressive form of blood cancer that initially went into remission after chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. However, the disease later returned, leaving limited treatment options available in the UK.
During the course of treatment, Caitlin’s family explored the possibility of an overseas transplant, supported by fundraising efforts led by her identical twin sister, Grace. Doctors later discovered the sisters shared nearly identical genetic markers, which made Grace ineligible to donate stem cells.
Despite earlier hopes for further treatment, Caitlin’s condition rapidly deteriorated in June. According to family statements, she suffered a sudden brain bleed and subsequent complications, leading to her death shortly afterward.
Her family described her as being closely bonded with her twin throughout their lives, and shared that she passed away surrounded by loved ones, following a sudden decline in her health.
