What it actually means if one of your fingers turns white when it’s cold

Cold hands in cold weather are usually normal, as the body works to preserve heat. However, if your hands stay cold even when you’re warm, or if they become numb or change color, it may point to an underlying issue. One common cause is Raynaud’s phenomenon, a condition in which blood vessels in the fingers overreact to cold or stress, causing the skin to turn white, blue, or purple and feel numb or tingly until circulation returns.
