16-Year-Old’s Quick Action in River Rescue Protects Three Girls and a Police Officer

A quiet July night in Pascagoula, Mississippi turned into a life-or-death emergency when a car carrying three teenage girls accidentally plunged off a boat ramp into the Pascagoula River around 2:30 a.m.
Nearby, 16-year-old Corion Evans reacted instantly, diving into the powerful current to help. His fearless actions, along with the response of others on scene, helped save four lives. The driver later told police she had been following GPS directions and didn’t realize the unlit ramp led directly into the water.
