Logan’s Roadhouse Shuts 261 Locations, Fires All Employees Amid Financial Turmoil
In a dramatic attempt to stay afloat, Logan’s Roadhouse has terminated all employees and announced the closure of 261 locations. Rather than adapting to take-out and delivery models during the ongoing economic downturn, the company cut payroll and benefits, leaving approximately 18,000 workers without jobs or healthcare.
The chain, part of CraftWorks Holdings, had already been struggling under Chapter 11 bankruptcy before the pandemic. The company also saw its former CEO, Hazem Ouf, fired for allegedly misappropriating $7 million in sales taxes.
Under new CEO Marc Buehler, the company moved quickly to cut employee benefits, forcing many former staff members to seek alternative health insurance. While the CraftWorks Foundation has offered some support through its HOPE Program, critics question whether the company prioritized its bottom line over the well-being of its workforce during a global crisis.
The closures mark a significant upheaval in the casual dining industry, highlighting the challenges faced by restaurant chains navigating financial instability and evolving consumer habits.
