Deadly Bus Crash in Manitoba Claims at Least 15 Lives

At least 15 people were killed Thursday in a devastating collision in Manitoba, Canada, when a bus carrying elderly passengers struck a truck at an intersection near Carberry, about 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

Authorities said the group was traveling to a casino when the crash occurred. Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba confirmed that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”

Ten others were transported to hospitals and are receiving medical treatment. Both drivers survived the crash, though investigators have not yet determined who was at fault.

Images from the scene showed the severe impact of the collision, including damaged mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking frames scattered near tarps covering victims.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered condolences to the victims’ families and those injured, while Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed sympathy.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
