Jake was enjoying a quiet day at the lake when a black snake approached — calm, but far too close for comfort. “It just stopped and lifted its head… almost like it was begging,” he later recalled. Curious, he offered it some water. To his surprise, the snake drank. That’s when he called Animal Control.
Officer Mark arrived and quickly sensed something unusual. “Not typical. We need to be careful with this one,” he warned. The snake remained strangely still — not aggressive, but clearly not behaving like a normal wild snake. “Animals act differently when something’s wrong,” Mark noted.
As sunset neared, birds suddenly burst from the nearby trees. “They’re spooked. Something’s close — or about to happen,” Mark said. The tension rose as both men realized the wildlife seemed to be reacting to something they couldn’t yet see.
