Police Share Disturbing Details from Home Where Louisiana Father Killed Eight Children

Authorities in Shreveport have released disturbing new details following a mass killing in which a father is believed to have taken the lives of eight children—seven of his own and one relative—early Sunday morning. Police responding to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance discovered the victims inside a residence, most of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds while asleep, according to officials including Shreveport Police Corporal Christopher Bordelon. The children, identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office as ranging in age from 3 to 11, included three boys and five girls.

Investigators say the attack appears to have begun on the first floor, with some victims attempting to escape, including through an upstairs window leading to the garage roof. Evidence collected at the scene suggests multiple firearms may have been used. Two adults were also injured, including the suspect’s wife, along with another woman believed to have been in a relationship with him. Authorities are continuing to piece together the sequence of events and analyze evidence recovered from the home.

Officials noted the suspect had a background working in logistics and had previously served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Family members indicated he had been struggling with mental health issues in recent weeks. After the incident, he reportedly fled, prompting a vehicle pursuit that ended with his death under circumstances still under investigation. The tragedy has left the community in shock and has intensified discussions around mental health, early intervention, and preventing domestic violence.
