Suspected gunman’s sickening ‘motive’ behind assassination attempt on Donald Trump

Authorities say Cole Tomas Allen carried out a planned attack at the Washington Hilton, where the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was underway.
According to investigators, the 31-year-old traveled across the country and checked into the hotel days in advance, allegedly preparing for an assault on one of the most heavily secured gatherings in the United States. Inside the venue were Donald Trump, Melania Trump, JD Vance, senior administration officials, and prominent journalists.
Law enforcement officials say Allen approached a restricted area while armed, prompting a confrontation with the United States Secret Service. During the encounter, one agent was shot before Allen was subdued and taken into custody.
In the aftermath, investigators recovered electronic materials and a written manifesto that they say تشير إلى premeditation, including references to targeting government figures “likely including the president.” Authorities are also examining alleged links to a group known as The Wide Awakes and prior protest activity in California.
Jeanine Pirro said the suspect appeared “intent on doing as much harm and as much damage as he could,” adding that additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Officials are now working to determine the full scope of the planning involved, as well as whether any warning signs were missed before the incident.
