2,000-year-old ‘Jesus boat’ offers glimpse into biblical times

A 2,000-year-old fishing boat, known as the “Jesus Boat,” was discovered in 1986 along the Sea of Galilee during a drought. Found by two brothers and excavated in just 12 days, the boat dates back to 40 BCE–50 CE — the era of Jesus. Built with ten types of wood, it reflects the resourcefulness of ancient shipbuilders. Though not directly linked to Jesus, it offers a powerful glimpse into life during biblical times. Preserved and now displayed at the Yigal Allon Museum, the boat remains a major attraction for history and faith enthusiasts alike.
