University of Wyoming Community Stunned After 3 Students Are Tragically Passed Away

In a tragic accident near the Wyoming-Colorado border, three members of the University of Wyoming men’s swimming and diving team lost their lives in a car crash. The victims have been identified as sophomore Charlie Clark, 19, from Las Vegas; junior Luke Slabber, 21, from Cape Town, South Africa; and freshman Carson Muir, 18, from Birmingham, Alabama. The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 287 and Red Mountain Road, between Livermore and Virginia Dale, Colorado.
Early reports suggest the vehicle, a Toyota RAV4 carrying five occupants, swerved off the southbound lane and rolled multiple times. Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle, while two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital. Authorities noted that one of the survivors was driving at the time of the crash, which occurred shortly before 2:45 p.m.
The Colorado State Patrol is actively investigating the accident. Officials have not ruled out any contributing factors, including speed, impairment, or distractions, and the University of Wyoming confirmed the incident remains under review.
This heartbreaking event has left the university community, families, and friends mourning the loss of three young athletes while supporting the survivors and their families during this incredibly difficult time.
