Boy, 14, who injected himself with butterfly for online challenge suffered a 7-day slow death

A 14-year-old Brazilian boy, Davi Nunes Moreira, died after a medical emergency linked to a secret act he initially hid from his family. He was hospitalized with severe symptoms, including vomiting, intense pain, and difficulty walking, and at first said he had been injured while playing.

Only later did he admit to injecting himself with a substance made from a dead butterfly. Despite treatment, his condition worsened, and he passed away after a week in the hospital. Doctors emphasized that introducing unknown organic substances into the body is extremely dangerous, especially for children, and can lead to unpredictable, life-threatening complications.
