A quiet moment between a father and his infant ended in tragedy in the city of Anápolis, about 55 km from Goiânia, after a 2-month-old baby died following an accidental fall.
According to initial reports, the father told authorities he fell asleep while holding the child during the early hours of Monday morning. The baby slipped from his arms and suffered a fatal impact. When emergency responders from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) arrived, they confirmed the child had already died.
Military police were alerted by the Forensic Medical Institute (IML), and an investigation was opened. Authorities are now gathering statements from the father and possible witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of what happened.
The case is being treated cautiously as investigators work to confirm whether the incident was a tragic household accident or if any additional factors played a role. Police have not yet released further official details.
