Photo of Prince Andrew in Newly Released Epstein Files Sparks Debate as Former Girlfriend Offers Explanation

A photograph linked to documents from the United States Department of Justice release related to Jeffrey Epstein has reignited public discussion about Prince Andrew, prompting commentary from one of his former partners.
Photo Circulates After Document Release
The image, which reportedly appears among materials released as part of records connected to the Epstein investigation, shows Prince Andrew leaning over a woman lying on the floor. The exact circumstances in which the photograph was taken have not been confirmed.
While the image quickly attracted attention online, the released documents do not state that the photo depicts illegal activity.
The files, published by the United States Department of Justice, include millions of pages of records connected to investigations surrounding Epstein. These materials contain emails, photographs, and references to numerous individuals, many of whom are not accused of wrongdoing but appear because of past social or professional associations with Epstein.
Continued Scrutiny Around Prince Andrew
Public attention toward Prince Andrew has remained intense in recent years due to his past relationship with Epstein.
In 2019, Andrew faced widespread criticism following an interview on the BBC Newsnight, in which he addressed questions about his ties to Epstein. The interview generated significant backlash and led to his withdrawal from public royal duties.
More recently, the British royal household has continued to distance itself from the controversy. In late 2025, it was confirmed that Andrew would stop using the title “Prince” in official contexts and would no longer style himself publicly as the Duke of York.
Reports earlier this year also indicated that Andrew had been questioned about activities from his time serving as a British trade envoy.
Former Girlfriend Suggests Possible Context
Following the renewed attention around the photo, Lady Victoria Hervey, who briefly dated Prince Andrew in 1999 after his divorce from Sarah Ferguson, offered a possible explanation for the scene.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Dan Wootton, Hervey suggested the image might have been taken during a CPR training exercise.
According to her account, she contacted a lawyer connected to Ghislaine Maxwell and was told Maxwell had received emergency medical training. Hervey speculated that Andrew may have been participating in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation demonstration.
However, this explanation has not been independently verified, and no official confirmation has been provided about the circumstances of the photo.
Andrew Continues to Deny Wrongdoing
Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein and has said he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities at the time of their association.
As additional materials connected to the Epstein investigation continue to be released, discussions about individuals referenced in the documents remain ongoing in media and public forums.
Officials have emphasized that being mentioned in investigative records does not necessarily indicate involvement in criminal activity.
