FBI sends warning to California police over possible Iran ‘surprise attack’

FBI Warns California Police of Potential Iranian Drone Attack Amid Escalating Conflict

The U.S.-Iran conflict has intensified, with American strikes ongoing in Iran for more than two weeks. President Donald Trump has threatened “unprecedented military consequences” if Iran continues its actions, including reportedly laying mines in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil flows.

According to reports from ABC, the FBI recently alerted California law enforcement of a potential “surprise attack” by Iran using unmanned aerial vehicles targeting the West Coast. The warning emphasized that details on timing, method, and specific targets remain unknown.

In response, California authorities have heightened security measures. Governor Gavin Newsom’s office confirmed coordination with federal and local officials, while the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said it has increased patrols around cultural and religious sites and is maintaining an elevated state of readiness.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon reported sinking 16 mine-laying vessels near the Strait of Hormuz in recent operations, and U.S. officials say Iran has conducted retaliatory drone strikes in the Middle East. The alert underscores the heightened risk of retaliation against the U.S., even as the broader conflict continues to escalate.
