Missile Strikes U.S. Embassy in Baghdad as Trump Announces Major Attacks on Iranian Targets

A missile struck the United States Embassy compound in Baghdad late Friday night, raising new fears that the rapidly escalating confrontation between the United States and Iran could widen into a broader regional conflict.
The projectile landed inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, the secure district that houses Iraqi government offices, foreign embassies, and major security installations, including the Embassy of the United States, Baghdad.
Video circulating on social media shortly after the strike showed smoke rising near the diplomatic compound. U.S. and Iraqi officials had not immediately confirmed whether there were casualties or provided details on the extent of the damage.
The attack has intensified concerns that American diplomatic facilities across the Middle East could become targets if tensions continue to rise.
The incident came only hours after Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces had carried out a large-scale bombing operation against Iranian-linked targets. Trump said American forces had “obliterated” several military sites during the operation, though additional details were not immediately available.
