A Sydney father-of-two is being hailed as a hero after confronting a gunman during a mass shooting at Bondi Beach. Ahmed al Ahmed, a fruit shop owner with no weapons training, stepped in without hesitation and was shot twice while stopping the attacker. He is now recovering in hospital.
In a split-second decision, Ahmed hid behind a car, then charged and disarmed the gunman in a brief struggle. Even while injured, he secured the weapon and prevented further harm—an act many are calling extraordinary bravery.
