Christina Applegate ‘hospitalized’ amid MS battle – here’s what we know

Christina Applegate has reportedly been hospitalized in Los Angeles, raising fresh concerns about her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis.
According to TMZ, the Dead to Me star, 54, was admitted in late March. The exact reason for her hospitalization has not been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether it is directly related to her MS diagnosis.
A representative for Applegate declined to provide details, stating: “I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”
The reported hospitalization comes weeks after Applegate spoke candidly about the toll the disease has taken on her life. Diagnosed in 2021, she has consistently shared insights into both the physical and emotional challenges of living with MS.
In a recent interview, she described the extreme exhaustion associated with the condition, pushing back on common descriptions of fatigue. “I’m not tired… Do you feel like you’re on horse tranquilizers? Yes,” she said, underscoring the severity of her symptoms.
Applegate has also reflected on the early signs of the illness, recalling years of intermittent issues such as balance problems, shaking hands, and speech difficulties—symptoms she initially attributed to dehydration or heat. It wasn’t until early 2021, when numbness in her toes and worsening mobility issues emerged, that the condition became impossible to ignore.
As filming approached for the final season of Dead to Me, her symptoms intensified. “I can’t even walk up the steps to my trailer,” she recalled telling colleagues at the time.
In her recent memoir, she detailed the day-to-day realities of living with MS, including limited mobility and recurring hospital visits due to complications and infections. She has previously said she has been hospitalized multiple times since her diagnosis, often dealing with severe pain.
Despite these challenges, Applegate has remained active professionally, including co-hosting the podcast “MeSsy” with fellow MS patient Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
No further updates on her condition have been released, as fans and supporters await more information.
