Donald Trump gives White House correspondent harrowing nickname and threatens to sue her

Donald Trump Targets NYT Reporter Maggie Haberman in Latest Social Media Outburst
Former President Donald Trump has once again lashed out at a female journalist. On Truth Social, the 79-year-old called New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman a “maggot” and threatened to include her in a Florida-based lawsuit against the paper. The reason for his anger remains unclear.
Trump has a history of attacking journalists who challenge him or report critically. Earlier this year, he interrupted Washington Post reporter Natalie Allison on Air Force One and called her “very bad attitude,” while in December he labeled CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins “stupid and nasty” for asking tough questions.
Haberman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, has reported extensively on Trump, including advisors’ ties to Russia, and authored the 2022 biography Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America. She is reportedly working on another book about Trump, and her latest article covered the firing of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Maggot Hagerman, just another SLEAZEBAG writer for The Failing New York Times, insists on writing false stories about me… I’m thinking of adding Maggot, and some of her ‘associates,’ into my Florida based Lawsuit against The Times.”
While the exact trigger for this latest attack is unknown, it reflects the ongoing tension between Trump and journalists covering his administration and post-presidency actions.
