Fisherman Feels “Something” Bump Against His Leg — Later Identifies Missing 10-Year-Old Boy

Joshua Lahai’s final day began with the excitement of a summer outing: teammates, a beach, and the holiday atmosphere of Memorial Day weekend. But the day turned tragic when a powerful wave swept Joshua and a friend off a sandbar, pulling them into deeper water where they were unable to regain footing. In moments, the joy of the day gave way to panic as the rough surf overtook them and Joshua disappeared beneath the waves while relatives watched from shore.

A large-scale search effort followed, lasting nearly 24 hours. First responders, volunteers, and family members combed the waters and shoreline, holding onto hope that the 10-year-old might still be found alive. The search, however, ended in heartbreak.

According to officials, a fisherman later reported feeling an unusual bump in the water, prompting recovery efforts in the area. Officer Christopher Redmond entered the water and located the child, bringing him back to shore and confirming the devastating outcome for his family.
