Nurse Recalls Final Moments of Woman After Fatal Bungee Jumping Fall in Brazil

A nurse who reached a young woman after a fatal fall from the Skeleton Bridge has spoken publicly about the victim’s final moments, describing a desperate attempt to save her life following a devastating safety failure.
The 21-year-old, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died after falling approximately 130 feet during a bungee jumping event in Limeira, Brazil. Reports indicate she was not properly secured to a safety rope when she was thrown from the bridge during the activity, prompting an immediate emergency response and a criminal investigation into the organizers.
According to witnesses and investigators, the incident has raised serious concerns about safety oversight at the site, which was reportedly operated without proper authorization. Authorities have detained and questioned multiple individuals in connection with the event as they examine whether negligence led to the fatal outcome.
Speaking to Brazilian media, nurse Rayza Dias said she reached the woman in a steep ravine where access was extremely difficult. She described finding Maria Eduarda still alive but critically injured and struggling to breathe. Dias said she attempted emergency care at the scene while reassuring the victim in her final moments, but the injuries proved fatal before she could be transported for further treatment.
