Love Is Blind star sentenced for attempted murder

Santiago Martínez, a former contestant on Love Is Blind: Argentina, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted murder, repeated assault, and unlawful detention against Emily Ceco, a connection he met on the reality show. Martínez, 29 at the time of filming in 2024, and Ceco, 24, had planned a private wedding after a civil ceremony but their relationship took a violent turn. Ceco first reported Martínez for gender-based violence in February 2025 after sustaining a black eye, and the engagement was subsequently canceled.
Following the assault, Ceco obtained a restraining order preventing Martínez from approaching her in public, and he was removed from the show. Martínez’s defense attempted a plea deal, which was rejected by prosecutors. In court, Ceco gave an emotional testimony about the fear she endured, recounting Martínez’s apology and his continued claims of love, while describing the terror of facing him during legal proceedings.
After the sentencing, Ceco shared her relief and gratitude on Instagram, acknowledging the support of her family, friends, and legal team. She wrote that the ruling marked a step toward closure, though she remains aware of the long road ahead in her healing process. The case highlights the serious consequences of domestic violence and the importance of legal protection for survivors.
