Man Poses for Photo With Girlfriend Moments Before Fatal 650-Foot Fall During Hike

A photograph taken during what appeared to be a routine hiking trip has become a heartbreaking final memory for a couple after a tragic accident claimed the life of 30-year-old Andrea Mazzetto.
Mazzetto was hiking with his girlfriend, Sara Bragante, near the town of Rotzo when the pair stopped to take a smiling selfie at the scenic Altar Knotto. The image would later gain widespread attention after it was revealed to be one of the final photos taken before the fatal accident.
According to reports, shortly after the photograph was taken, Mazzetto dropped his cellphone near the edge of the rocky area. While attempting to retrieve the device, he reportedly lost his footing and fell approximately 650 feet down a cliff.
Emergency responders quickly launched a rescue operation, including the deployment of a helicopter to reach the remote location. Despite their efforts, Mazzetto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Early reports suggested he had been trying to recover his girlfriend’s phone, but authorities later clarified that the fallen device belonged to Mazzetto himself.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Bragante shared the final photograph online, describing it as their “cursed last photo.” She later posted an emotional tribute remembering her partner and expressing the profound loss left by his sudden death.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly accidents can occur in mountainous and cliffside environments, even during seemingly ordinary recreational activities. Mazzetto’s death continues to resonate with many who have been moved by the couple’s final photograph and the tragic circumstances surrounding it.
