British Influencer Faces Murder Charge in Dubai Following Fatal Stabbing Incident

A 23-year-old British influencer is facing a murder charge in Dubai following the death of a British man she reportedly met through social media, according to a campaign group assisting her family.

The woman, identified as Brooke George from Gravesend, Kent, was arrested at Dubai International Airport on June 22 as she attempted to leave the country, campaigners said. She is currently being held at Bur Dubai jail.

Authorities allege the incident involved a fatal stabbing with a kitchen knife during an altercation. The case is now proceeding through the UAE legal system, where murder convictions can carry the death penalty.

According to advocacy group Detained in Dubai, George claims she acted in self-defense after being attacked. The group says she maintains the stabbing occurred during a violent confrontation and that she feared for her safety.

Her family has also spoken publicly, saying she contacted them in distress following an alleged assault and appeared injured in communications after the incident. They say she was attempting to return to the UK before the situation escalated.

Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case, stating that George should be treated as a potential victim of violence while legal proceedings continue.

Authorities in the UAE have not publicly confirmed additional details beyond the ongoing investigation.

The case remains under review as officials gather evidence and assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
