Zahara Jolie-Pitt Graduates From Spelman College as She and Siblings Continue Dropping “Pitt” Surname

Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt is drawing public attention after graduating from Spelman College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology — and was introduced using a shortened version of her name.
During the graduation ceremony, she was announced as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” omitting “Pitt,” a detail that has fueled renewed discussion about how the children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are choosing to identify in recent years.
It is not the first time Zahara has used the name “Jolie” publicly. In 2023, she introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during her induction into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman.
She is one of six children shared by Jolie and Pitt, including Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Over time, several of the siblings have also been reported to use “Jolie” in non-legal or public settings, including school and stage appearances.
Reports over recent years have suggested that some of the children have distanced themselves from the “Pitt” surname in varying contexts, with changes becoming more visible in public listings and personal introductions.
Separate reports have also indicated that relationships within the family have remained strained since Jolie and Pitt’s separation in 2016, though Pitt has reportedly expressed hope of rebuilding connections with his children in the future.
Neither Jolie nor Pitt has publicly commented in detail on the recent graduation naming announcement.
